From Glen Marshall, Elog http://midtwist.triumf.ca:8081/EL/021010.12274?exp=twist I've measured some rates after setting the F0V vertical jaws. The results are (at about 144 muA BL1A): Set Measured M rate T1ION mm (+/- 0.2, est.) /s /s 6 6.2 1400 11600 7 6.9 1680 11526 8 8.3 2480 11525 9 9.0 2725 11553 10 9.8 3200 11500 11 11.0 3780 11530 12 11.8 4420 11527 These were made with F0H=41mm, F1H=10mm, F2H=20mm approx. (+/- 1mm), at 29.6 MeV/c. I have left it at about 8.0 mm, to give a rate of about 2300 /s. It may be that the rate difference can be explained by slightly different slit or jaw settings. F0V was about 9.8 on a rough eyeball average of the readback (although I tried to set it back as close to 9 mm as possible on maintenance day). The procedure I've used is as follows. 1. Adjust the slit to a lower value by a few mm (if possible! minimum setting for F0V is 6 mm). 2. Set desired value, enter, then click "move". 3. After it has stopped moving again, click "move" again. 4. Repeat 3 until no apparent change takes place (in readback position or if possible, in rate of M counter). 5. If readback is consistent with what you entered, ok. If not, go to 2 and repeat with a slightly modified number.
